Starting PodiWada
Podi wada (පොඩි වැඩ) — meaning small work in Sinhala is a community of freelancers with a social mission.

The origin
Six months back we started a small niche e-commerce business, it is totally based on social media marketing, and we especially use Facebook and Instagram. And we are growing very rapidly. I will talk about it on a different day.
However, when we started the project we came across lots of difficulties, the freelancers and people we came across never delivered. Some were below expectation and some just ran away with our money.
We had to painstakingly find people who are talented and does a good job. And 6 months later we ended up with a good list of great freelancers who are not popular but at the same time delivering what we expect from them.
The mission
Did you know 1 out of every 9 youths in Colombo are driving a tuktuks and work only 2 hours a day?
Since these guys are so talented and unheard of we thought why can’t we make a simple platform where other startups and companies can use these talented people for their own work as well. It will be a win for both parties.
From this mission, we started PodiWada a few days ago. It’s an extremely small and simple website where buyers can connect with these talented freelancers.
There is another part to this story as well, one thing that we saw was the fact that most of these freelancers use their skill to make money to pay for the university education so whenever you hire someone from PodiWada you are helping a kid in their education.
We have freelancers who are doing all sorts of work, like graphic designing, content creation, even delivering items in Colombo and western province.
PodiWada is free
PodiWada is free for everyone if you want to hire a freelancer just post it there and we will notify these talented freelancers and they will help you out.
PodiWada will be the moderator and we will make sure you won’t get scammed or get unsatisfied results like we used to.
To keep the servers and service up and running you can make a contribution to PodiWada only if you are satisfied with the freelancer you get from PodiWada.
