I enjoy tons of movies but I’m not a big follower of TV shows unlike many of my friends. I’m one of those people who gets confused when people talk about Game of thrones. But the only TV series that I’m not missing out is Silicon Valley.

Most of my friends don’t know about it, there are few friends who are in the tech field that knows about the series. It’s a series about tech, startups, entrepreneurs, and the things that people have to face doing startups in Silicon Valley.

The story

Silicon Valley follows a story about a young programmer ‘Richard Hendricks’ who develops a compressing algorithm that is better than any other algorithm that is currently available, which he calls a ‘middle-out’ way of compressing things.

And the story unfolds around his algorithm and the problems he has to face in copyright, competing with big companies who tries to do the same, raising funds and everything in between that a new startup has to face in Silicon Valley.

The series is now screening it’s third season on HBO.

Why I like it

Although the story sounds serious and something that is hard to understand by ordinary people, that is totally not true. It not a just a tech tv series but a more of a comedy TV series that revolves around happenings around today's Silicon Valley. So it’s a story that everyone can understands.

The cast is pretty awesome, I really like T.J Miller who plays Erlich Bachman and all the jokes he pull up in the series.

TJ Miller

Thomas Middleditch who plays Richard Hendricks is also playing the part of a typical geek who is silent and introverted and at times low in personality who needs some backing up by his colleagues to get things done.

The jokes are not just tech jokes, they are about racism since they have Pakistani coder with them Dinesh, TJ Miller jokes about females, his way of dealing with people. It’s a mix of everything.

Although when it comes to technical side of it there are some loopholes in the series, including a compression algorithm that is lossless and that good is nearly impossible to make. And there were times where Richard completely deletes everything he worked on and make a functioning code overnight for TechCrunch demo. But those things can be overlooked since it’s not a tech or science TV series.

But all in all it is a very good TV series, and if you have not watched it I highly suggest you checking it out.

Now you can get notified about new movie releases, so you don’t need to search or find out which movies are screening in the town. It’s pretty simple check out the PopyCorn website and select a notification method of your choice.
