Nightcrawler is also another lesser known movie amongst most of my friends. Have you watched nightcrawler? Did you enjoy the movie?
For me nightcrawler is one of the best movies I have watched last year, and it was one of those good movies that didn’t come to cinemas in Colombo.
The Story
Nightcrawler follows the story of ‘Lou Bloom’ a freelance reporter working during the night, following stories for the morning news. Apparently freelance reporting is a fierce business and things get nasty when Lou decides to maniupiplate news for sensationalizing them, and silencing or killing down his competition.
It also follows how playing dirty can take a man to the top. Where Lou starting as a freelance reporter by playing dirty ends up having his own crew of reporters just like him
Review
I’m a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal’s movies. Starting from ‘The Zodiac Killer’, ‘Prince of Persia — The sands of time’. But out of all of his movies ‘The Nightcrawler’ has the best acting of Jake Gyllenhaal ever where he plays Lou.
You can call him as a sociopath, or someone with a borderline personality. Someone who is unstable but at the same time focused in succeeding at any cost.
No wonder he got nominated for his acting for the best actor award at the golden globes.
The supporting characters are also well played by Rene Russo (Nina) and
Riz Ahmed (Rick).
The movie is a dark, thriller and you will be hooked on to your seats from the beginning to the end.
