Vision is something that we take for granted. If you can read this post without a problem then that means you are one lucky person. You won’t know how valuable vision is for you until you lose them.

Around the world, there are thousands of people that are less fortunate than us without vision and could not see the world.

And did you know that you can donate your eyes and can give vision to someone who is less fortunate than you?

As soon as someone dies their cornea (the outermost layer of your eye) can be taken from the eyes within the first 24 hours and can be saved to be transplanted to someone else later.

So today I am going to donate my eyes. So someday someone I don’t know is going to get to see through my eyes.

My vision is not perfect either, I suffer from myopia after I entered medical college and started wearing spectacles recently, and I suffer from a thing called floaters in my eyes.

Floaters are black dots that you see floating inside your eyes, they can look like cobwebs or spec of dust floating inside your eyes. Everyone develops floaters when they get old. But I have a higher number of floaters in my eyes than most of you. That means I see dust floating in my eyes when I look at something all the time. It’s a very annoying feeling, just think how you will feel if you see dust floating inside your eyes all the time.

I think everyone should donate their eyes, because vision is a very valuable gift that we can give out for free, and it won’t hurt because no one is going to take your eyes when you are alive. You can contact your nearest hospital and ask them how you can get yourself registered to donate your eyes.

After getting registered when you pass away doctors will surgically remove your cornea and save it in some sort of preservative and an eye surgeon will transplant them to someone else at a later time.

If you are interested in donating your eyes please contact your nearest hospital.

You only live once and if you do it right once is enough
